Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Buoyed by a 2-1 win over title holders Juventus, Inter take on Empoli at Stadio Carlo Castellani on day 5 of the new Serie A campaign. The Nerazzurri proved their worth in Sunday’s derby and they now aim to build on the triumph. Frank de Boer’s team climbed to sixth placed in the standings and a win over Empoli could see them overtake Juve in second position in the table. Empoli did not kick off the new season on a high, but following a 2-1 win over Crotone, they played out a goalless draw with Torino and they are certainly capable of grabbing something from Wednesday’s football match. The Azzurri are tough to beat at home ground and, taking everything into account, we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils at Stadio Carlo Castellani. It has to be noted that Inter are undefeated in previous ten meetings with Empoli in all competitions.
Highlighted Player (Massimo Maccarone):
Massimo Maccarone is a product of AC Milan youth academy. The striker, however, did not play for the Rossoneri at senior level as he was sent on loan to Modena in 1998. In 2000 he signed a deal with Empoli and after spending two seasons at the club, he joined English outfit Middlesbrough on 9 July, 2002. The Italian attacker was producing fine displays with Boro and it has to be noted that he scored 24 goals in 80 appearances for the club from 2002 to 2007.
In January 2007 he signed for Siena (free transfer and he scored 13 goals in 35 appearances for the club in the 2007/2008 Serie A campaign. Maccarone played for the likes of Palermo and Sampdoria as well and in 2012 he returned to Empoli. The Italian footballer plays as a striker, but he is also capable of playing as a winger.
The experienced attacker was born in Galliate on 6 September, 1979. It has to be noted that Maccarone won the English League Cup with Middlesbrough in the 2003/2004 season. He participated in the 2005/2006 UEFA Cup final with Boro as well, but Sevilla proved to be a big catch for the English side back then (0-4).
Highlighted Team (Inter Milan):
Internazionale Milano, known as Internazionale, Inter or Inter named Milan, is a football club from Italy, founded on March 9, 1908 by a number of "rebels" who did not like in the regulations of the Milan Cricket and Football Club, now known as AC Milan. The main objection was that no foreign players were allowed. In 1928 the club merged with US Milanese and strongly entered a time when Ambrosiana-Inter survived.
The club, nicknamed the Nerazzurri or the blue / blacks has had many successes. This is how Inter Milan won 18 national titles, seven times the Italian Cup, the UEFA Cup 3x, and 3x times the Champions League, formerly known as the European Cup I.
