Our football match prediction:
Fiorentina have been playing below expectations this season, but they are still capable of booking their place in European competitions. The Viola aim to put an end to their three-game winless run in the Serie A, but seeing that they suffered elimination in the Europa League knockout stages, they will be fully focused on the national championship in the remainder of the season. As before, Paulo Sousa’s team struggle on the travels, but their home record is anything but poor. Fiorentina are eyeing their seventh home win of the season and it has to be noted that they have yet to suffer a loss at their Stadio Artemio Franchi this term. Cagliari were hammered by Inter (1-5) in front of home fans at the weekend and, taking everything into account, they are unlikely to upset the Viola in Sunday’s football match. Nikola Kalinic is widely expected to lead the attack for the hosts against the Rossoblu and we predict that he is going to make life difficult for the opposition defenders on Matchday 28.
Highlighted Player (Nenad Tomovic):
Nenad Tomovic is a Serbian football player who was born in Kragujevac on 30 August, 1987. The centre back, who is capable of playing as a full back as well, started his senior career at Crvena zvezda, making 40 league appearances for the former European champions. Tomovic moved to Italy in 2009, signing a deal with Genoa, but he played no more than 14 league games for the Rossoblu. After ending his loan-spell with Lecce Nenad Tomovic joined Fiorentina in 2012 in a co-ownership deal (Genoa and Fiorentina). The Serbian international quickly established himself as a first-team regular and he made 24 league appearances for the Viola in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. Nenad Tomovic made his Serbia debut on 14 December, 2008 in a 1-0 loss to Poland, but he was forced to miss the 2010 FIFA World Cup through injury. Speaking of his youth career, Tomovic played for the likes of Radnicki Kragujevac, FK Rad and Red Star Belgrade.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship. Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy. I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie. Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
