Our football match prediction:
Against all odds, out-of-sorts Palermo came from two goals behind to beat Genoa at Stadio Renzo Barbera. The Rosanero showed character in the 4-3 victory over the Rossoblu and that certainly gave them a confidence boost. The Sicilian outfit aim to escape the relegation zone and, no doubt, they will leave their hearts on the field in Thursday’s football match against Pescara. The Delfini suffered a heartbreaking (0-3) loss to Bologna at the weekend and it is more than obvious that the rock-bottom team are not on top of their game at the moment. The newcomers struggle on the travels and seeing that Palermo impressed in the 4-3 win over Genoa, we predict that the Sicilians will emerge triumphant in Thursday’s relegation six-pointer. Ilija Nestorovski, who provided two assists for his teammates in the victory over the Rossoblu, is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Pescara.
Highlighted Player (Oscar Hiljemark):
Oscar Hiljemark is a central midfielder who won the Under-21 European Championship with Sweden in 2015 and has also started to leave his mark on the senior national team. His talent was spotted early on as a number of Swedish sides battled for the player’s signature before he penned a professional contract with Elfsborg. Following some impressive performances in Swedish Allsvenskan, Hiljemark was purchased by PSV Eindhoven, where he somewhat struggled for playing time, but that did not stop Serie A side Palermo from offering him an escape route from Dutch Eredivisie. The central midfielder enjoyed a brilliant start to his career in Italy, scoring several important goals in the opening exchanges, and he was in turn linked with the likes of Southampton, West Ham, AC Milan and Napoli, among other clubs. While making several appearances for Blagult even before said success with the Under-21 side, Hiljemark only secured his place in the senior team after the aforementioned trophy, and he is tipped to prove a worthy successor to long-serving midfielder Kim Kallstrom.
Highlighted Team (Pescara):
Pescara are an Italian football club that play in the Serie A. The Delfini (The Dolphins) returned to the Italian top flight at the end of the 2015/2016 season and it has to be noted that they competed in six seasons in the elite division (1977–78, 1979–80, 1987–88, 1988–89, 1992–93, 2012–13). Pescara play their home matches at Stadio Adriatico, the stadium that was opened in 1955 and renovated in 2009. The club’s main rivals are Lazio and Verona, but the likes of Chieti, Virtus and L’Aquila are considered Pescara’s bitter rivals as well. Vicenza and Messina are regarded as Gemellaggi (Twinning) with Pescara. Delfini have yet to win the Serie A trophy, but it has to be noted that they won the Serie B twice (1986/1987, 2011/2012). The colour of Pescara’s home kit is white and blue, while the team’s away kit is dark blue.
