Our match prediction:
Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore will host a mid-table clash between Sassuolo and Empoli. Both teams have been struggling with their form lately and both teams recorded a single triumph in 2016. I Neroverdi lost just one game against the Azzurri on home turf (W4 D1), which gives them hope they can stop the current negative run in the Serie A and increase their advantage over Empoli to four points. The biggest problem for Sassuolo is that they boast a 0-4-3 record on home turf since November, mostly thanks to their drafty defense and toothless attack. Marco Giampaolo has the same problem with his team, but it has to be noted that i Azzurri lost just once in their previous nine fixtures on their travels. Also, Empoli have the opportunity to leapfrog their next opponents with a win in this encounter, and record a third straight win over Sassuolo. Having this in mind, we will give a slight advantage to the away team. We do not predict a lot of fireworks in the forthcoming meeting, but we do expect a close away victory.
