Our prediction for this Turkey Super Lig match:
Fenerbahce will be looking to put an end to their seven-game winless run in the Turkish Super Lig when they host Kayserispor at their Ulker Stadyumu Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Spor Kompleksi. Fener have slim chances of winning the domestic trophy, but they are still in the race for a place in European competitions. The situation in the Fenerbahce dressing room, though, is anything but great, as interim manager Zeki Murat Gole left his temporary role after two matches.
Fener have yet to find a replacement for Zeki Murat Gole, meaning that they head into Friday’s football match manager-less. Kayserispor, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Yeni Malatyaspor, and they managed to get one. The rock-bottom side regained a much-need confidence, and seeing that Fenerbahce will be without key player Max Kruse in Friday’s showdown, we are tempted to put our money on draw.
This game is postponed.
Highlighted Player (Mathias Jorgensen):
Son to a Danish mother and a Gambian father, Mathias Jorgensen is a 26-year-old centre back who started his career with F.C. Copenhagen in 2007. During his first spell with the Danish powerhouse, Jorgensen struggled with injuries that hampered his early career with Copenhagen, but the powerful defender succeeded in becoming an important first-team player for the club earning the captain’s armband in 2011.
Five year after his senior debut with the club, Jorgensen moved to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven where he struggled for playing time in the first team and ended up playing only 14 matches over the course of two years.
Zenka, as he is commonly referred to in Denmark with his nickname originating from the movie Cool Runnings, returned to Copenhagen in 2014 and has so far featured in over 65 league matches for the club. Mathias Jorgensen moved through all youth ranks of the Denmark national team and was given his first full senior cap in 2008.
Highlighted Team (Fenerbahce):
Fenerbahce are one of the biggest football clubs in Turkey. The Kanaryalar were founded on 3 May, 1907 as Fenerbahce Futbol Kulubu. Fener won their first domestic trophy in 1959 and they quickly established themselves as one of the main forces in Turkish football.
In 2014 Fenerbahce clinched their 19th league title, with the team finishing the season nine points clear of Besiktas. Galatasaray are considered Fener’s bitterest rivals and the two teams face each other in Kitalar Arasi Derbi. The rivalry between the clubs started back in 1934, when a friendly between the two teams was abandoned due to riots. Besiktas are regarded as Fenerbahce’s big rivals as well.
The likes of Mujdat Yetkiner, Zeki Riza Sporel, Aykut Kocaman, Emre Belozoglu, Alex, Nicolas Anelka, Diego Lugano, Roberto Carlos and Dirk Kuyt are famous footballers who played for the club in the past. The Kanaryalar play their home games at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, the venue that was opened in 1908. Fener’s home kits are navy blue and yellow.
