Our prediction for this Turkey Super Lig match:
After suffering a 2-0 loss at Kasimpasa at the weekend, Fenerbahce will be looking to get back on course when they host Yeni Malatyaspor at an empty Ulker Stadyumu. Fener are having a season to forget, but a win over Yeni Malatyaspor will see them revive their Europa League hopes. Key attacker Max Kruse remains in the recovery room, but the likes of Muriqi and Rodrigues are likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders.
The visitors, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Kasimpasa, with the team beating Goztepe 2-1 at home ground. Hikmet Karaman’s troops regained a much-needed confidence, and seeing that they are eager to escape the relegation zone in the Super Lig table, we predict that the visitors are going to grab something from Saturday’s football match.
Highlighted Player (Mathias Jorgensen):
Son to a Danish mother and a Gambian father, Mathias Jorgensen is a 26-year-old centre back who started his career with F.C. Copenhagen in 2007. During his first spell with the Danish powerhouse, Jorgensen struggled with injuries that hampered his early career with Copenhagen, but the powerful defender succeeded in becoming an important first-team player for the club earning the captain’s armband in 2011.
Five year after his senior debut with the club, Jorgensen moved to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven where he struggled for playing time in the first team and ended up playing only 14 matches over the course of two years.
Zenka, as he is commonly referred to in Denmark with his nickname originating from the movie Cool Runnings, returned to Copenhagen in 2014 and has so far featured in over 65 league matches for the club. Mathias Jorgensen moved through all youth ranks of the Denmark national team and was given his first full senior cap in 2008.
Highlighted Team (Fenerbahce):
Fenerbahce are one of the biggest football clubs in Turkey. The Kanaryalar were founded on 3 May, 1907 as Fenerbahce Futbol Kulubu. Fener won their first domestic trophy in 1959 and they quickly established themselves as one of the main forces in Turkish football.
In 2014 Fenerbahce clinched their 19th league title, with the team finishing the season nine points clear of Besiktas. Galatasaray are considered Fener’s bitterest rivals and the two teams face each other in Kitalar Arasi Derbi. The rivalry between the clubs started back in 1934, when a friendly between the two teams was abandoned due to riots. Besiktas are regarded as Fenerbahce’s big rivals as well.
The likes of Mujdat Yetkiner, Zeki Riza Sporel, Aykut Kocaman, Emre Belozoglu, Alex, Nicolas Anelka, Diego Lugano, Roberto Carlos and Dirk Kuyt are famous footballers who played for the club in the past. The Kanaryalar play their home games at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, the venue that was opened in 1908. Fener’s home kits are navy blue and yellow.
