Our football match prediction:
Having crushed Uruguay in Montevideo (4-1), high-flying Brazil will be looking to cement top position in the South America World Cup qualifying group with a triumph over Paraguay. Neymar impressed in the victory over La Celeste on Thursday and the Barcelona ace is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. The Selecao have been in a splendid form of late and you should know that they are eyeing their eighth consecutive win in the process. In their last home game Brazil hammered Argentina 3-0 and we predict that Tite’s men are going to record a routine win over Paraguay. La Albirroja head into the game following a 2-1 win over Ecuador in Asuncion, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Wednesday’s football game against Brazil. Paraguay’s displays on the road leave a lot to be desired and, taking everything into account, home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Bernard):
After spending three years at Atletico Mineiro, Brazilian winger Bernard signed a five-year deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of €25 million. The left-footed player won the 2013/2014 Ukrainian Premier League trophy with the Miners and he was part of the Shakhtar squad that clinched the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2015. Bernard is well known for his brilliant technique and he is considered one of the fastest players in the Ukrainian Premier League. The Brazilian footballer represented his homeland at the 2016 Copa America and he won the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013. Bernard made his Brazil debut on 21 November, 2012, coming as a substitute in the Superclasico de las Americas against Argentina. He represented Brazil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and it has to be noted that he played all 90 minutes in an embarrassing 7-1 loss to Germany in the semi-finals of the showpiece tournament. Bernard was born on 8 September, 1992 in Belo Horizonte.
Highlighted Team (Paraguay):
Los Guaranies are the part of CONMEBOL confederation vying for glory at the international scene since 1919 and their debut loss to Argentina 5-1. Paraguay are regular participants at the Copa America winning the tournament on two occasions thus far, most recently in 1979. They came close to glory in recent editions of the tournament as they fell short in the final of 2011 to Uruguay, while they finished fourth in 2015. The most successful period of the Paraguay national team came under Argentine coach Gerardo Martino, who took Paraguay to the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the first time in history. Following the 2010 success, Paraguay failed to qualify for their fourth successive FIFA World Cup finals as they have also missed out on the third consecutive global championship held inside their own continent. Toluca FC centre back Paulo da Silva is the most capped player of the Paraguay national team, while former Bayern Munich and Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz is the team’s top scorer with 32 goals to his name.
