Our football match prediction:
United States of America have been playing below expectations in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but thanks to a 4-0 win over Panama they moved one step closer to booking their place at the next year’s showpiece tournament in Russia. The Yanks proved their worth in the victory over los Canaleros and they are only one point away from qualifying for the World Cup finals. Toronto attacker Jozy Altidore scored a brace in the 4-0 win over Panama and he is likely to prove a handful for Trinidad defenders. The Soca Warriors are on a six-game losing run in their qualifying group ahead of the visit of USA and they are unlikely to grab something from Wednesday’s football match. The visitors want this win more than the hosts and, taking everything into account, we predict that the Yanks till pick up all three points from the match.
Highlighted Player (Clint Dempsey):
Clint Dempsey is regarded as one of the most significant MLS stars. The USA veteran was born on March 9, 1983 and he gain popularity during his spell with Fulham. Dempsey scored 50 goals in 184 league appearances for the Cottagers and, as a result, Tottenham Hotspur owners decided to bring him to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2012. The USA international, though, was struggling to find his best form in the 2012/2013 Premier League campaign and he netted only seven goals in 29 league fixtures. From 2004 to 2006 Dempsey played for New England Revolution and in 2013 he returned to MLS, signing a four-year contract with Seattle Sounders for a fee of $9 million. He made his Seattle debut on August 20, 2013, coming as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Toronto. In 2016 Clint Dempsey helped the Sounders clinch the MLS Cup trophy and, speaking of his international titles, it has to be noted that he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with USA on two occasions (2005, 2007).
Highlighted Team (United States):
The United States Men’s National Soccer Team commonly referred to as the USMNT have been playing at the international level since 1916 and their debut 3-2 win at Sweden. The USMNT have first appeared at a FIFA World Cup in 1930 when they achieved their best ever result by reaching the semi-final of the competition and ultimately finishing third, which remains the joint highest finish of any team outside of the UEFA and CONMEBOL confederations. Following the 1950 FIFA World Cup, the United States did not qualify for the tournament until 1990. The US also hosted the competition in 1994, going out to lose to Brazil in the round of 16. Hosts of the Copa America Centenario, the United States will try to record a noticeable result on home soil under the leadership of Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann. The US have bright history in the century-old tournament and will hope to repeat the glorious 1995 run when they finished fourth.
