Our football match prediction:
United States did remarkably well to win the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup and they are now on a quest to book their place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals. The Yanks have been playing below expectations in their WC qualifying group and they sit in third place in the standings ahead of Saturday’s football match against Honduras. USA proved their worth in the Gold Cup final against Jamaica and we predict that they will give fans yet another reason for celebration this weekend. Toronto attacker Jozy Altidore, who has netted 11 goals in MLS so far this season, is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Costa Rica. Los Ticos are on the right track to qualify for the showpiece tournament in Russia as they sit in second place in the CONCACAF WC qualifying group at the moment and they would be happy with one point from the USA game. However, given the importance of Saturday’s match for the hosts, we are tempted to put our money on Bruce Arena’s men.
Highlighted Player (Tim Howard):
Tim Howard is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of USA national football team. Howard is well known for his spell with English giants Manchester United. The experienced shoot-stopper played for the Red Devils from 2003 to 2007 and he spent the 2006/2007 season on loan at Everton. At the end of the season he signed a permanent deal with the Goodison Park outfit and it has to be noted that he made no less than 354 league appearances for the Toffees. During the 2011/2012 Premier League campaign he scored his first and only goal for Everton as he found the net in a 2-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers. Thanks to the goal against Bolton he became the fourth goalkeeper to score a Premier League game. In 2016 he decided to return to USA, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Colorado Rapids. Howard conceded 20 goals in 19 appearances for the Rapids in the 2016 MLS season and he managed to keep eight clean sheets. It is well known that the USA goalkeeper won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Yanks.
Highlighted Team (Costa Rica):
Los Ticos are administered by the Costa Rican Football Federation and are members of the CONCACAF confederation competing at the international stage since 1921, although it was not until 1927 that they had become the FIFA members. Costa Rica is the most successful national football team in the history of Central America with eight championships and their decorated reputation was upheld in 2014 when the current Central American champions made an imposing impression during the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Having reached the quarter-finals, Costa Ricans continue to be a thorn in the side for a many bigger soccer nations. Alvaro Saborio is the most-capped member of the current team captained by Bryan Ruiz, but the most prominent star of the squad is definitely Real Madrid goalkeeper and 2016 Champions League winner Keylor Navas. Arsenal forward Joel Campbell is also a notable player whose 2014 FIFA World Cup performances have been nothing short of impressive.
