Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
As expected, PSG outplayed Brest 3-0 in their last league fixture, but despite the triumph they remained in the second place in the standings. Les Parisiens are eager to overtake Olympique Lyon in top position in the standings, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Angers on Matchday 20. Mauro Pochettino is surely capable of helping the team improve their game, and even though Neymar has yet to overcome his injury, PSG are seen as hot favourites to win Saturday’s clash.
Kylian Mbappe, who impressed in the 3-0 win over Brest, will be the man to watch in the away team. Les Scoistes, on the other hand, were anything but impressive in a 3-0 loss to Monaco. Since les Parisiens are determined to regain top position in the standings, we believe that away win should be considered. Both Zinedine Ould Khaled and Rachid Alioui have been tested positive for coronavirus, while Sofiane Boufal and Enzo Ebosse are both sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Romain Thomas):
Romain Thomas is a product of Brest football academy and he made three appearances for the first team during his spell at Stade Francis-Le Bie. Thomas spent the 2008/2009 season on loan at Pacy Vallee-d’Eure and in 2010 he moved to lower-league side USJA Carquefou.
After spending three seasons at the club the 193-cm-tall defender, who is very good in the air, moved to Angers. Romain Thomas quickly established himself as a first team regular at the club and you should know that he made 36 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in the 2016/2017 season.
Despite playing as a defender, the French footballer often finds the net and he scored his first goal for Angers on September 27, 2013 in a 1-1 draw with Tours. The centre-back, whose preferred foot is right, was born in Landerneau, France on June 12, 1988. Romain Thomas’ contract with les Scoistes expires on June 30, 2019.
Highlighted Team (PSG):
Formed by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain or as they call it PSG is the most successful club in French football with 31 domestic titles to their name. Having won six Ligue 1 title so far, a record ten Coupes de France, a record six Coupes de la Ligue, six Trophees des Champions and one Ligue 2 title, PSG are also one of only two French clubs to ever win a European title.
Les Parisiens were crowned UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup champions back in 1995-96, while their last European trophy was the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Beginning of the new millennium was particularly hard for the celebrated club who flirted with relegation in 2000s before they were bought by the Quatar Sports Investments group in 2011 when the rebirth of the Paris Saint-Germain as we know it today began.
Following heavy squad investments and team boosting, PSG won their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years with Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic almost singlehandedly leading his side towards the trophy with 30 goals. Having established domestic dominance, PSG now set their sights on winning the Champions League which remains an elusive dream for the club from Paris.
