Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After suffering a 1-0 loss at Reims, Brest will be looking to give fans some cheer when they host Metz at their Stade Francis-Le Ble on Matchday 22. Les Pirates aim to put an end to their three-game losing run in the French top flight, but the game against Metz will be anything but a walk in the park for the home team. Battocchio is sidelined through suspension, while Bain misses the match with a knee injury.
Les Grenats, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Nantes. Metz are eyeing their third consecutive win in the French top flight, and they are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in Sunday’s clash. Since under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of Metz’s previous seven league matches, a low-scoring affair is on the cards at Stade Francis-Le Ble.
Highlighted Player (Ludovic Baal):
Ludovic Baal is a left-footed football player who was born on May 24, 1988. Baal was born in Paris, but he is a product of the Le Mans youth academy and it has to be noted that he made 12 appearances for the club in his first season with the MMArena outfit.
His main position is left-back, but he is capable of playing as a left midfielder as well. Considering that he is a French-born player, Ludovic Baal was illegible to play for both France and the French Guayana national team.
Baal decided to represent French Guayana on international stage and he made three appearances for the team in the group stages of the 2012 Caribbean Cup. He found the net in a 4-1 win over Anguilla, with Gary Pigree scoring a hat-trick for French Guayana. Ludovic Baal currently play for Rennes as a left-back and his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit expires on June 30, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference).
However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club.
Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
