After making 46 appearances for Admira Wacker II, the 179-cm tall striker started playing for the first-team in the 2016/2017 Austrian Bundesliga season.
Three years later Patrick Schmidt decided to take a step forward in his football career as he signed a four-year deal with Barnsley. The full-of-pace forward scored eight goals in the 2018/2019 season for Admira and he is widely expected to shine with the Tykes in the 2019/2020 Championship campaign. It has to be noted that Schmidt played for Austria U16, U17, U18 and U19 teams.
The Barnsley attacker currently represents Austria U21 team in international matches. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well.
