Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Heerenveen and Groningen face each other at Abe Lenstra Stadion in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Saturday’s program. De Superfriezen continue with their habit of producing much better showings at home than on the travels, and you should bear in mind that they are eyeing their third consecutive triumph at home ground. Top scorer Henk Veerman should be recalled to the starting XI after he was rested in a 3-1 loss at AZ.
Groningen, on the other hand, were beaten by both Vitesse and Heracles in the previous two away games in the national championship. Since Heerenveen have been producing fine displays at their Abe Lenstra Stadion of late, we predict that the visitors are going to return home empty-handed. Norway international Jorgen Strand Larsen is widely expected to lead the line for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Erwin Mulder):
Erwin Mulder is an experienced Dutch footballer who plays for Heerenveen as a goalkeeper. Mulder spent his youth career at R.K.P.S.C, Vitesse Arnhem, and Feyenoord, and he continued playing for the Rotterdam club at senior level.
After making 120 appearances in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, the 193-cm-tall shot-stopper signed for Heerenveen as a free agent in the summer of 2015. It has to be noted, though, that Erwin Mulder was loaned to Excelsior during his spell with Feyenoord. His next stop was Swansea City where he made 29 league appearances before returning to Heerenveen in 2020.
Erwin Mulder was born in Pannerden on March 3, 1989, and he has three caps with the Netherlands U20 team. He has yet to earn a call-up with the Oranje senior team. The Heerenveen goalkeeper was named in the Netherlands Euro 2012 provisional squad, but after the training with the national team, he failed to make the cut.
Highlighted Team (Groningen):
Groningen is a Dutch football clubs that competes in the Eredivisie. Founded on June 16, 1971, Groningen play home games at Euroborg. The venue was built by Ballas Nedam, Royal BAM Group and VolkerWessels, and it can hold up to 22,525 people.
The Trots van het Noorden (Pride of the North) are well known for their white home shirts with red stripes, while purple is the dominant colour of their away kit. Volendam are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, but they have a rivalry with Twente as well after the 1980s incidents between their fans. Groningen have yet to win the Eredivisie trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Dutch Cup in the 2014/15 season.
The green and whites defeated Zwolle 2-0 in the title game. Speaking of their European success, it has to be noted that Groningen participated in the Europa League on two occasions. In the 2015/16 season the Trots van het Noorden booked their place in the group stages of the competition, but they failed to record a win in the process.
