Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Lazio and Parma, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table, take on each other at Stadio Olimpico in the Serie A round 36. Despite the 2-0 loss to Fiorentina, the Biancocelesti are on the right track to book their place in the Europa League as they are six points clear of sixth-place Roma. Midfielder Andreas Pereira is banned for the match, while both Escalante and Caicedo are likely to miss the game through injuries.
The Gli Emiliani, on the other hand, are having a season to forget as they failed to secure the Serie A survival. Parma are on a six-game losing run in the Italian top flight, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Lazio’s party in the “Eternal City”. Even though midfielder Hernani returns from suspension, we are not tempted to put our money on the underdogs, who are low on confidence ahead of the trip to Rome.
Highlighted Player (Gonzalo Escalante):
Gonzalo Escalante is an Argentine footballer who plays for Eibar in Spanish La Liga. Escalante made his senior debut for Boca Juniors, coming as a substitute in a 6-1 loss to San Martin de San Juan. After playing 11 matches for the Argentine giants, he was sent on loan to Catania on 28 August, 2014 and he scored his first professional goal against Virtus Entella on 28 October.
On 29 January Escalante signed a permanent deal with the Sicilian outfit and he played 26 games for the club in the 2015/2016 campaign. At the end of the season he joined La Liga team Eibar on loan and he made his debut for los Armeros on 24 August against Granada. He managed to find his net on his debut and six months later he signed a permanent deal with the club.
His contract with Eibar expires on 30 June, 2020. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Parma):
Founded in 1913, Parma is considered one of the most famous Italian clubs. The Gialloblu play home games in white shirts with a dark blue cross and dark blue shorts. Speaking of their away colours, Parma footballers wear yellow-blue kits on the travels. Parma have yet to win the Serie A trophy, but they did well to lift the UEFA Cup trophy on two occasions (1994/1995, 1998/1999).
To make things even better for Parma fans, the Gialloblu won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1992/1993 season, with the team beating Royal Antwerp in the title game 3-1. A number of top-class footballers played for Parma in the past: Hernan Crespo, Roberto Mancini, Juan Veron, Roberto Mancini, Dino Baggio, Fabio Cannavaro and Gianluigi Buffon.
The Gialloblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Ennio Tardini, which was opened in 1923. The venue can hold up to 27,906 spectators. Bologna are considered Parma’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in matches between the two sides.
