Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After holding Monaco to a 1-1 draw in the opening game of the season, Nantes will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Metz at their Stade de la Beaujoire. Les Canaris produce much better showings at home than on the travels, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s clash. Since important midfielder Pedro Chirivella returns from suspension, we believe that home win should be considered.
Les Grenats, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-3 draw with Lille, and seeing that Kiki Kouyate misses the match through suspension, we are tempted to put our money on Nantes. All Cabit, Nguette, Pajot, and Tchimbembe have been struggling through injuries for the away team. You should bear in mind, though, that Nantes are eyeing their first win over Metz since September 2017.
Highlighted Player (Alban Lafont):
Alban Lafont is a French goalkeeper who plays for Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Lafont joined AS Lattoise youth school at the age of nine and he stayed at the academy until 2014 when he moved to Toulouse.
The 193-cm-tall goalkeeper has established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at Toulouse and it has to be noted that he made 36 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. Due to his dual citizenship, Alban Lafont is eligible to represent both Burkina Faso and France on international stage, but he has yet to play for the African team.
Alban Lafont represented les Tricolores at youth level and, no doubt, there is a bright future ahead of the talented shoot-stopper who was born on January 23, 1999. The rising star has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference).
However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club.
Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
