Estadio Jose Alvalade will host Wednesday’s Champions League clash between Sporting CP and Ajax. The Lions did well to win the Primeira Liga trophy last season, but they have big ambitions for the elite competition as well. Sporting are undefeated in the new domestic campaign, but Ajax will pose a much bigger threat for the hosts than their previous rivals. Talented tactician Ruben Amorim should have a full squad to choose from.
The Amsterdammers, on the other hand, aim to make amends for the unsuccessful 2020/21 Champions League campaign. The Dutch champions head into the match following a 2-0 win over Zwolle, but seeing that the Lions are tough to beat at home, we are tempted to put our money on draw. Both Gorter and Kudus are facing race against clock to be fit for the match, while Klaiber and Onana remain on the sidelines through injury and suspension respectively.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on October 7, 1990, Sebastian Coates is a 196-cm-tall defender who plays for Sporting CP in Primeira Liga. Coates is the product of the hometown club Nacional, and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 60 appearances for the capital club in the national championship.
After ending his spell with English club Sunderland, the Uruguay international moved to Portugal, signing a loan deal with Sporting CP in January 2016. He signed a permanent contract with the Lions in February 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Sebastian Coastes made his full Uruguay debut against Chile at the 2011 Copa America. La Celeste won the trophy, with the team beating Paraguay 3-0 in the final of the competition at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires. Coates wears the number 4 shirt at Sporting CP, and his preferred foot is right.

Ajax is a Dutch football club that was founded on 18 March, 1900. Ajax are well known for their youth academy, which regarded as one of the best youth football schools in the world. The likes of Johan Cruijff, Edwin van der Sar, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Rafael van der Vaart and Marco van Basten are all products of Ajax’s football academy. The Amsterdammers share a big rivalry with Feyenoord and there have always been fireworks when the two teams face each other in De Klassieker.
