Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Alcorcon will be aiming to build on a 3-1 win over Mirandes when they take on Almeria on Friday evening. Los Alfareros regained a much-needed confidence at the weekend, but despite the triumph, they remained in the relegation zone. The capital club face an uphill task against the promotion-chasing side, meaning that they would be happy with one point from the match.
The Andalusians, on the other hand, have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team beating both Oviedo and Malaga, while losing to Amorebieta and Ponferradina. Almeria continue to struggle on the travels, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on draw. There are no absentees in the home team ahead of Friday’s clash, while Aitor Bunuel is rated doubtful for the visiting team after limping off with injury in the 1-0 loss to la Ponfe.
Highlighted Player (Richard Boateng):
Born in Accra, Ghana on July 10, 1992, Richard Boateng is a midfielder who plays for Alcorcon in Segunda Division. Boateng is a product of Liberty Babies football academy, with the Ghanaian starting his senior career at Liberty Professionals. In 2010 he moved to Spain, signing a deal with Granada.
During his spell with the Andalusian outfit, he mainly played for Granada B, but he spent a couple of years at loan at Cadiz B and San Roque as well. Richard Boateng made only one appearance for the Granada senior team in the league.
The Ghana international played for the likes of Aris Limassol, Extremadura, Melilla, and Oviedo as well before joining Alcorcon in 2019. His primary position is central midfielder, but he is used as an attacking midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right, and his contract with Alcorcon should expire in June 2021.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
