Our prediction for this Championship match:
Buoyed by a 4-1 win over Birmingham City, Fulham will be aiming to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Reading at Craven Cottage. Serbia international Aleksandar Mitrovic has already netted six goals in the new Championship campaign, meaning that the opposition defenders should have him at bay. Fulham are determined to retain top position in the standings, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at the Royals.
All Tete, Cairney, and Kongolo remain in the recovery room, while Fabio Carvalho is a major doubt. The Royals, on the other hand, are still without key attacker Lucas Joao, who will not be returning to contention before January. Since Reading are not regarded as good travelers, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the hosts. The likes of Azzeez, Araruna, Meite, Dann, Drinkwater, McIntyre, and Rinhomhota are sidelined with injuries as well.
Highlighted Player (Tom Cairney):
Tom Cairney is a professional footballer who plays for Fulham. His main position is central midfielder, but he plays as an attacking midfielder and a right midfielder as well. The left-footed player was born in Nottingham, England on 20 January, 1991 and he started his youth career at Leeds United.
In 2007 he moved to Hull City and he was named Hull’s Young Player of the Year for the 2008/2009 campaign. After making 70 league appearances for the Tigers he joined Blackburn Rovers on 1 August, 2013 on loan and on 2 January, 2014 he signed a permanent deal with the Riversiders. At the end of the 2014/2015 Championship campaign he joined Fulham.
Tom Cairney’s father is Scottish and, as a result, the Fulham footballer decided to represent Scotland on the international stage. Cairney has 2 caps for Scotland U-21 and he made 6 appearances for Scotland U-21 team. It has to be noted that he suffered a serious injury in August 2012. The injury forced him to be out of contention for over three months.
Highlighted Team (Reading):
Reading FC is a professional football club that play in the Championship. The club was formed in 1871 and Madejski Stadium has been the home of Reading since 1998. The Royals used to play their home games at Elm Park in the past (1896 - 1998). Reading made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on two occasions (1927, 2015), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy.
The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992.
Seeing that Aldershot rejoined the league in 2008 it remains to be seen if the rivalry is going to be re-established in near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are considered Reading’s big rivals as well.
