Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Benfica and Barselona face each other at Estadio da Luz in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Sunday’s program. The Eagles have been impressive in the Primeira Liga this season, with the team leading the chase for the title. Benfica kicked off their Champions League campaign with a goalless draw, but they are surely capable of beating the fallen Catalan giants in front of home fans. Summer signing Roman Yaremchuk should keep his place up front after scoring a brace in a 3-1 win over Guimaraes, while all Goncalves, Radonjic, Seferovic, and Svilar are likely to miss the game with injuries.
Barca, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munchen, and given the length of their injury list, home win should be considered. Ansu Fati has recovered from a long-term injury, but all Pedri, Wague, Dembele, Braithwaite, Balde, Alba, and Aguero remain in the recovery room. Frankie de Jong returns from a domestic ban.
Highlighted Player (Haris Seferovic):
Haris Seferovic is a Swiss international who plays for Primeira Liga club Benfica as a forward. Born in Sursee, Switzerland, on February 22, 1992, Seferovic began his youth career at his hometown club Sursee. In 2004 he moved to Luzern, and he continued his football development at Grasshoppers from 2007 to 2009.
The 189-cm-tall attacker, whose preferred foot is left, made three appearances for the Grasshopper senior team before joining Fiorentina in 2010. Haris Seferovic played for the likes of Xamax, Lecce, and Novara on loan as well before signing a deal with Real Sociedad in the 2013/2014 season.
In the summer of 2014, the Swiss international moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 16 goals in 86 appearances in the German top flight. Seferovic, who plays for Benfica nowadays, did well to win the Primeira Liga trophy with the Eagles in the 2018/2019 season. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as a left winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Barcelona):
Barcelona is a Spanish football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia. Barca were founded in 1899 and they are regarded as one of the greatest clubs in world football. The Catalan giants won their 24th La Liga title in 2016, with Luis Suarez winning “El Pichichi” award. Barcelona have won five European Cup trophies and a number of top-class players were part of the team in the past.
The likes of Hristo Stoichkov, Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona and Pep Guardiola are some of many players that played for Barca in the past, but, no doubt, Leo Messi has established himself as the club’s trademark. Barcelona welcome their rivals at Camp Nou, the stadium that was built in 1957.
Barcelona’s local rivals are Espanyol, but the rivalry between Barca and Real Madrid is much bigger. The two La Liga giants face each other in “El Clasico”, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Barca are famous for their football youth school La Masia as well.
