Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
After suffering a massive 4-0 loss to Getafe in their last league match, Cadiz will look to escape the danger zone when they take on Atletico Madrid at their Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla. The Yellow Submarine, though, face an uphill task in Sunday’s clash, and, no doubt, they would be more than happy with one point this time out. Alvaro Cervera should opt to make changes to the starting XI that faces los Azulones, with both Chapela and Fali pushing for a start.
Jose Mari is sidelined with injury for the hosts. Los Rojiblancos, on the other hand, recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Osasuna in their last league match. Since key attacker Luis Suarez returns to the starting XI, we predict that the title holders are going to pick up all three points from Sunday’s clash. Both Joao Felix and Kieran Trippier are sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Alvaro Gimenez):
Alvaro Gimenez is a product of Elche football school who plays for fellow La Liga side Cadiz as a forward. Alvaro played for several Spanish clubs in the past, including Elche, Valencia B, Torrellano, Mallorca, Alcorcon, Almeria, before joining Birmingham City in the 2019/20 season.
After scoring only three goals in 24 appearances for the Blues in the Championship, Alvaro Gimenez returned to Spain at the end of the season, signing a deal with La Liga newcomers Cadiz. The Spanish attacker made his debut with the “Yellow Submarine” on October 4, 2020 in a 1-1 draw with Granada. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well.
Gimenez’s preferred foot is left, and his contract with Cadiz should expire on June 30, 2023. The Cadiz attacker has three caps with the Spain U17 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team.
Highlighted Team (Atletico Madrid):
Atletico Madrid are a Spanish team that plays in Primera Division (La Liga). Los Rojiblancos or los Colchoneros play their home matches at Estadio Vicente Calderon, which holds up to 54,960 spectators. Atletico Madrid have won 10 La Liga titles, but they have yet to lift the European Cup (Champions League) trophy.
Los Rojiblancos have won 10 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) trophies and it has to be noted that they defeated their bitter local rivals Real Madrid in the 2012/2013 Spanish Cup final. The rivalry between the two capital clubs is pretty big and El Madrileno is regarded as one of the most exciting derbies in the world football.
Atletico Madrid played two Champions League finals under Diego Simeone, but they failed to beat Real Madrid in the title games (2013/2014 and 2015/2016). However, the Argentine tactician helped Atletico Madrid win the La Liga trophy in 2014 and, no doubt, he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the capital club.
