Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Following back-to-back goalless draws with Inter and Lazio, Atalanta will look to return to winning ways in the Serie A when they host Cagliari to their Gewiss Stadium on Matchday 24. The Orobici are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures, but they need to start winning on a regular basis if they are to represent Italy in the Champions League for yet another term. Keep in mind, though, that all Malinovskiy, Muriel, Pasalic, and Koopmeiners have been tested positive for coronavirus.
Both Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata are rated doubtful for the game, while Alexey Miranchuk remains in the recovery room. The Rossoblu, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina where they failed to convert a penalty. Cagliari are not regarded as good travelers, and even though Atalanta will be without several first-team regulars in Sunday’s clash, home win should be considered. Important attacker Joao Pedro is banned for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Duvan Zapata):
Duvan Zapata was born in Cali, Colombia on 1 April, 1991. The 186-cm-tall attacker started his youth career at America de Cali, playing for the club between 2004 and 2008. In 2008 he made his debut for the first team and three years later he scored his first hat-trick for the Colombian outfit, in a 3-2 win over Deportivo Pereira.
In 2011 he signed a loan deal with Estudiantes and he found the net for the Argentine team on his debut against Belgrano. After scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances for Estudiantes, the Colombian striker joined Napoli in 2013, but he failed to establish himself as a first-choice attacker.
On 22 July, 2015 Zapata joined fellow Serie A team Udinese on loan and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 24 league appearances for the Zebrette. Duvan Zapata has 5 caps for Colombia U20 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior side.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
