Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Cheltenham Town and Sunderland face each other at Whaddon Road in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Tuesday’s program. Cheltenham have yet to record a win in 2022, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as underdogs in the midweek clash. The good news for the hosts is that Ben Williams is back from suspension. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team.
The Black Cats, on the other hand, suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to Doncaster in their last league fixture. Sunderland have been struggling at the back of late, but this match could be the turning point for the promotion-chasing visitors. Even though all McGeady, O’Nien, Burge, Broadhead, and Huggins are sidelined with injuries, we are tempted to put our money on the Stadium of Light outfit as they are desperate to get back on course in the League One.
Highlighted Player (Chris Hussey):
Born in Hammersmith, England, Christopher Hussey is an experienced defender who plays for Cheltenham Town in the League Two. After spending his youth career at the likes of Woking and AFC Wimbledon, Hussey continued playing for the Dons at senior level.
He played for a number of English clubs in the past, but, no doubt, the most notable one is Sheffield United. Chris Hussey made seven appearances for the Blades in the League One, but nowadays he is a League Two player. His main position is left-back, but he is capable of producing fine displays as a left midfielder as well.
It has to be noted that he was called up for the England C team as a standby. Christopher Hussey made his Cheltenham Town debut on August 21, 2018 in a 1-1 draw with Macclesfield Town. He scored his first goal with the Robins in a 4-2 loss to Mansfield Town.
Highlighted Team (Sunderland):
Sunderland are a professional football club that have been playing their home games at the Stadium of Light since 1997. The capacity of the stadium is 49,000, but before expansion the original ground capacity was 42,000. Red and White shirts are Sunderland’s trademark and the club’s fiercest rivals are Newcastle United. The two local rivals have been contesting in the Tyne-Wear derby since 1898 and there have always been fireworks in what is one of the greatest derbies in English football. Sunderland were on the verge of dropping to the Championship in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but experienced tactician Sam Allardyce eventually helped the team avoid relegation.
The Black Cats have won six First Division trophies (now the Premier League), with the team lifting two FA Cup titles. Sunderland won their first FA Cup trophy in 1937, with the team beating Preston North End 3-1 in the title game. The club was founded in 1879 as Sunderland and District Teachers A.F.C.
