Our prediction for this League 1 match:
All eyes will be on the Valley when Charlton Athletic and Oxford United face each other in a highly-anticipated League One game. Following three consecutive league wins, the Red Robins suffered yet another dip in form, with the team losing to both Bolton and Wigan in the previous two league fixtures. The capital club aim to get back on course as soon as possible, but they will have a big fish to fry in Saturday’s clash.
Both Ronnie Schwartz and Jake Forster-Caskey remain in the recovery room, but there are no fresh injury worries in the home team. The Yellows, on the other hand, aim to climb to the playoffs berth, and despite their poor run of results, away win should be considered as the visitors want this win more than the hosts. A man to watch in the away side will be Wales attacker Billy Bodin, who scored a brace in the 3-2 loss to Bolton.
Highlighted Player (Jake Forster-Caskey ):
Born in Southend-on-Sea, England on April 25, 1994 Jake Forster-Caskey is a midfielder who plays for Charlton Athletic in the League One. Forster-Caskey started his both youth and senior careers at Brighton & Hove Albion and it has to be noted that he scored five goals in 67 league appearances for the Seagulls first team.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan at the likes of Oxford United, Milton Keynes Dons and Rotherham United, the English footballer signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Charlton Athletic in the winter of 2017. Jake quickly established himself as a first-team regular at the capital club, scoring 5 goals in 43 appearances in the 2017/2018 League One campaign.
However, he was out of contention for most of the 2018/2019 season with a serious knee injury. His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and left midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Oxford United):
Oxford United are one of the oldest clubs in the League One as they were founded back in 1893. However, Oxford United adopted their current name 67 years later and have been playing under it ever since.
Over the years the Yellows have built a great rivalry with Swindon Town and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two sides. Oxford United play home matches at Kassam Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 12,500. The stadium was built in 1997 and has been Oxford United’s home ground ever since. The Boys from Up the Hill are well known for their yellow and blue colours, but they play their away games in dark blue (with a little yellow) or black kits.
Oxford’s player with the most league appearances is John Shuker, playing 478 games for the club from 1962 to 1977. On the other hand, Jim Magilton is the club’s most capped player in internationals, playing 18 games for Northern Ireland.
