Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
All eyes will be on Stade de la Beaujoire when Nantes and Monaco face each other in the Coupe de France semis. Les Canaris have been in a fine form of late, with the team beating both Reims and PSG, while sharing the spoils with Metz in their last Ligue 1 game. Nantes faced no difficulties in the quarter-final triumph over Bastia, but they will have a mountain to climb in Wednesday’s clash.
All Augustin, Castelletto, Fabio, and Merlin should miss out with injuries for the home side. Les Rouges et Blancs, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a shocking 2-1 loss to Reims. Monaco, though, are not regarded as good travelers, which is probably the main reason why the share of spoils is on the cards. Both Henrique and Tchouameni are back from suspension, while all Golovin, Badiashile, Boadu, and Diatta are out of contention through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Anthony Limbombe):
A Belgian player of Congolese descent, Anthony Libombe is a versatile forward who is equally able to play as a winger. The talented 22-year-old began his career at Racing Genk in 2010, while he spent the last two years as a member of Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
During a two-year spell in the Eredivisie, Anthony Limbombe made 65 league appearances for NEC scoring 21 goals during that time. Limbombe has been outstandingly impressive during the 2015-16 season when he scored 7 goals and notched 7 assists in the Eredivisie. Belgium international has long been linked with a move to English side Leeds, who followed him closely in Eredivisie, but Limbombe chose to return to Belgium in the summer of 2016 when he signed a deal with Club Brugge reportedly worth £2 million.
Anthony Limbombe is yet to make his competitive debut for his new side, but the club management has huge expectations from a young forward who could go on to be a huge revelation in the Champions League.
Highlighted Team (Monaco):
Though based in Monaco, Les Rouges et Blances – as they are commonly referred to – play their games in the French football league system. Members of the top tier Ligue 1, Monaco play their home matches at the Stade Louis II in Fontvieille in front of 18,500 people. The Principality club boasts a turbulent history, which saw Monaco reach the highest heights of both domestic and international scene, but also get relegated to the amateur leagues at the very beginnings and to Ligue 2 in 2010-11 season.
The following year AS Monaco were acquired by the Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, whose heavy investments turned the Principality club into one of the biggest spenders in Europe in 2013 and reestablishing its place among Europe’s top clubs.
AS Monaco have had notable European results in the modern football era having been runners-up in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1992 and the UEFA Champions League in 2004. One of the most successful clubs in France AS Monaco have so far won seven league titles and five Coupe de France trophies.
