Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Following a heart-breaking loss to Milan, Napoli will be aiming to stay in the Scudetto race when they face Verona in the “City of Love”. The Partenopei are only two points behind league leaders Milan, meaning that Sunday’s clash is of big importance for the visiting side. Fit-again winger Hirving Lozano is pushing for a start, as well as Belgium international Dries Mertens, while both Tuanzebe and Malcuit remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The Mastini, on the other hand, have been in a fine form of late. Verona aim to extend their unbeaten run to five games, but they face an uphill task in Sunday’s showdown. Since key players are back to Napoli’s starting XI, we are tempted to put our money on the visiting side this time out. The likes of Lazovic, Dawidowicz, Retsos, Pandur, and Praszelik are sidelined with injuries, while Barak is a major doubt.
Highlighted Player (Giovanni Simeone):
Giovanni Simeone is a product of River Plate football academy. Simeone played for los Millonarios at senior level from 2014 to 2016 and he moved to Genoa in the summer of 2016. The former River Plate man scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Pescara on September 25, 2016 and two months later he scored a brace in a 3-1 victory over Serie A giants Juventus.
The prolific attacker netted 12 goals in 35 matches for the Rossoblu in the 2016/2017 Serie A campaign and, as a result, Fiorentina chiefs decided to sign him at the end of the season. The son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego joined the Viola on a five-year contract. Giovanni was born in Madrid on July 5, 1995 and due to his dual citizenship, he is eligible to represent both Argentina and Spain at senior level.
It has to be noted that he scored 12 goals in 12 appearances for the Argentina U20 team and he helped La Albiceleste win the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship.
Highlighted Team (Napoli):
SSC Napoli is an Italian football club from the city of Naples which is playing currently in the Serie A. The club was founded officially in 1926 but the history from Napoli reaches back to 1904 with the club Naples Foot-Ball & Cricket Club that fused with Internazionale Napoli and was called FBC Internaples.
After 4 seasons the club changed its name to SSC Napoli (Societa Sportiva Calcio).
In the end of the eighties Napoli had the biggest success in the club history with the Argentinian legend Diego Maradona. Diego Maradona was able to win the league title twice, the national cup and the UEFA cup. The moment Maradona left the club Napoli got into big financial trouble.
In 2004 the local club was bankrupt. Despite the help of financial investors the club got regulated to the Serie C. After 6 years of playing in lower divisions Napoli managed to get back in the Serie A in season 2007/2008. Famous players that played for the club from Naples are: Maradona, Zola, Cavani, Blanc, Di Canio, Cannavaro.
