Leeds United
Wolverhampton and Leeds United face each other at Molineux Stadium in the opening match of day 30. The Wolves aim to build on a back-to-back wins over Watford and Everton, with the team eyeing their third consecutive clean sheet. Korea international Hee-Chan Hwang, who limped off with injury at the weekend, should recover in time to face the Whites, while full-back Semedo remains in the recovery room.
As always, Raul Jimenez will lead the line for the hosts. The Whites, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Norwich City, and they managed to get one thanks to Joe Gelhardt’s late goal. Jesse Marsch’s troops regained a much-needed confidence on Matchday 29; therefore, we believe that they are capable of holding Wolverhampton to a draw. All Roberts, Phillips, Hjelder, Cooper, and Firpo should miss out with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (John Ruddy):
John Ruddy is a goalkeeper who was born in St Ives, England on 24 October, 1986. He played for a number of English clubs in the past and he started his senior career at Cambridge United. After making 39 appearances for Cambridge, he signed a deal with Everton for a fee of £250,000.
However, he failed to establish himself as the team’s first-choice shoot-stopper and as a result, he spent a bit part of his career on loan at Walsall, Rushden and Diamonds, Chester City, Stockport County, Wrexham, Bristol City, Crewe Alexandra and Motherwell. In 2010 he made a right decision when he signed for Norwich city for an undisclosed fee as he was immediately given the number 1 shirt. Two years later he received his first England call-up as Roy Hodgson decided to bring him to Euro 2012 finals.
However, Ruddy was forced to withdraw from the squad through injury. John Ruddy is married to Laura and his nickname is “The Iceman”. He was named Norwich City Players’ Player of the Year for the 2011/2012 season.
Highlighted Team (Leeds United):
Leeds United is one of the clubs that won the FA Cup. The Whites outplayed Arsenal in the final of the prestigious competition back in 1972, but they clinched the League Cup trophy as well. Leeds United faced the Gunners in the 1967/1968 League Cup final and it has to be noted that Terry Cooper scored the winner for the Whites.
Leeds play their home games at Elland Road and the capacity of the stadium is 37,914. The club was founded in 1919 and they have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies ever since (1968/1969, 1973/1974, 1991/1992). Leeds United made it to the Champions League final in 1975, but they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the title clash.
The Whites were impressive under David O’Leary. The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer, Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Ian Harte were part of the Elland Road outfit back then and they did well to reach the semis of the Champions League in 2001.
