Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Jamaica will look to put an end to their three-game losing run when they face El Salvador at Independence Park on Friday. The Reggae Boyz are not enjoying a WC qualifying campaign to remember, with the team missing out on a place at the showpiece tournament in Qatar. Since interim boss Paul Hall has decided to rely on 18 local players for the upcoming qualifying matches, home win should not be considered.
Leon Bailey has been recalled, but West Ham ace Michail Antonio will be sorely missed in Friday’s clash. El Salvador failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals as well, and seeing that both sides will be with guards down this time out, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on both teams to score. All Marvin Monterroza, Eduardo Vigi, and Cristian Gil are out of contention for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Wes Morgan):
Wes Morgan is an experienced 32-year-old defender who plays for English Premier League team Leicester City and the Jamaica national team. Morgan spent majority of his career at his boyhood club Nottingham Forest playing more than 400 games for them across 10 seasons. He was their longest-serving player when he transferred to Leicester City in 2012.
Morgan soon became the captain of Leicester City and had great success with the Foxes most notably winning the Championship title in 2014 and the Premier League title in 2016. Morgan was born and brought up in England but chose to represent his ancestral nation at international level.
He debuted for Jamaica in 2013 and was part of the teams that competed in the 2015 Copa America. He was also a successful member of the Jamaican team that finished second in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Morgan is a tough tackling defender and is a sturdy presence at the back.
Highlighted Team (El Salvador):
El Salvador are a national football team that play their home games at Estadio Cuscatlan. La Azul y Blanco turned down an invitation from Brazil to take part in the 1950 World Cup finals, but in 1970 they made it to the finals of the showpiece tournament in Mexico 20 years later.
They participated at the 1982 World Cup finals as well, but they have yet to advance the first round of the finals competition. El Salvador hosted the first CONCACAF Championship, but they failed to win the trophy, with the team suffering a loss to Costa Rica in the title game. Speaking of the Central American and Carribean Games, la Selecta won the trophy on two occasions (1954, 2002) and in 1968 they booked their place at the Olympic Games in Mexico.
The likes of Magico Gonzales, Rodolfo Zelaya, Arturo Alvarez, Mauricio Cienfuegos, Ronald Cerritos, Raul Diaz Arce, Alexander Larin, Eliseo Quintanilla, Jaime Alas and Alfredo Pacheco are some of the notable footballers who played for El Salvador.
