Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Buoyed by back-to-back wins over Morecambe and Wigan, Cambridge United will look to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening. The U’s are eyeing their third consecutive league win, but this will be anything but a walk in the park for the home team. Greg Taylor remains on the sidelines with injury, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.
The capital club, on the other hand, suffered a 3-2 loss to Morecambe on Friday. Anyhow, both teams to score betting option should be considered as both sides will be with guards down in the midweek clash. As for the visiting team, Ryan Inniss completes a three-match ban, while Sam Lavelle continues to miss out through injury. In the first half of the season Charlton Athletic recorded a 2-0 win over Cambridge United.
Highlighted Player (Liam O’Neil):
Born in Cambridge, England on July 31, 1993, Liam O’Neil is an English footballer who plays as both defender as midfielder for Cambridge United in the League Two. O’Neil is a product of the Cambridge United football school, but he played for Histon during his youth career as well.
In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
Highlighted Team (Charlton):
Charlton Athletic are yet another capital club that will compete in the 2019/2020 Championship season. Founded back in 1905, the Red Robins welcome their opponents at the Valley, the stadium which can hold up to 28,111 spectators. Charlton Athletic wear red shirts and white shorts when playing on home soil, whereas black is the dominant colour of their away kit.
Winning of the 1946/1947 FA Cup trophy is considered the club’s biggest success. The Red Robins defeated Burnley 1-0 in the title game, with Chris Duffy scoring the winner for Jimmy Seed’s charges in extra-time.
Fellow capital clubs Crystal Palace and Millwall are regarded as Charlton’s fiercest rivals, whilst Samuel Bartram, who made 579 appearances for the club is one of the most famous footballers who played for the Valley outfit. The club based in London will compete in the English second tier in the 2019/2020 season following a three-year absence.
