Our prediction for this League 1 match:
All eyes will be on Aesseal New York Stadium when Rotherham United and Oxford United face each other in the League One round 45. The Millers aim to stay in automatic promotion berth, but keep in mind that they suffered four defeats in the previous four league fixtures. Jordi Osei-Tutu, who limped off with injury in Monday’s clash, is unlikely to feature against Oxford United, with Shane Ferguson likely to step up. Freddie Ladapo is pushing for a start as well.
The Yellows, on the other hand, recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over MK Dons to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Oxford United have been showing signs of improvement of late, and we predict that they will hold Rotherham to a draw in the League One derby. Billy Bodin should be recalled to the starting XI after scoring a late winner against MK Dons, while the likes of Gorrin, Baldock, Browne, and Agyei continue to miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Josh Vickers):
A product of Arsenal's youth academy, Josh Vickers, is an English footballer who plays for League One Club Lincoln City. The 6ft 2-inch goalkeeper's first appearance came for Isthmian League outfit Canvey Island having joined them on loan in August 2013. He went on to play over 30 games for the club before returning to Arsenal to sign his first professional contract.
His time at the Gunners was shortlived, however, and involved another loan to Conference South club Concord Rangers before making a permanent switch to Premier League side Swansea City in August 2015 on a two-year contract. In his time at Swansea, Vickers made zero appearances for the first team but did feature in the club's under-18 and under-23 team.
Vickers spent his 2016/2017 season on loan to Barnet, where he made his League One debut against Cambridge United on the 6th of August, 2016. Born on the 1st of December, 1995, the 23-year-old has featured 47 times for his current club Lincoln, on a contract that expires on the 30th of June, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Oxford United):
Oxford United are one of the oldest clubs in the League One as they were founded back in 1893. However, Oxford United adopted their current name 67 years later and have been playing under it ever since.
Over the years the Yellows have built a great rivalry with Swindon Town and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two sides. Oxford United play home matches at Kassam Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 12,500. The stadium was built in 1997 and has been Oxford United’s home ground ever since. The Boys from Up the Hill are well known for their yellow and blue colours, but they play their away games in dark blue (with a little yellow) or black kits.
Oxford’s player with the most league appearances is John Shuker, playing 478 games for the club from 1962 to 1977. On the other hand, Jim Magilton is the club’s most capped player in internationals, playing 18 games for Northern Ireland.
