Our prediction for this Nations League match:
Georgia will look to get off to a flying start to their Nations League campaign when they take on Gibraltar on Thursday. The Georgians did well to beat Sweden in their last World Cup qualifier, but that did not help them book their spot at the showpiece tournament in Qatar. The former Soviet Republic, though, are seen as hot favourites to beat Gibraltar on home soil, and we predict that Willy Sagnol’s troops are going to prove their worth on the field.
The minnows, on the other hand, served as a cannon fodder for their rivals in the WC qualifiers, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as big underdogs in Thursday’s clash. Taking everything into account, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. In their last meeting in a competitive match Georgia defeated Gibraltar 3-2, and we predict that the history is going to repeat itself.

The experienced shot-stopper managed to keep four clean sheets in 11 appearances for Vitoria Setubal in the 2018/2019 Primeira Liga season. Giorgi Makaridze has six caps for the Georgia U21 team, and nowadays, he represents Georgia at the senior level. The Vitoria Setubal goalkeeper wears the number 90 jersey.
Highlighted Team (Gibraltar):
Gibraltar played their first unofficial match against Jersey in the 1993 Island Games. The Gibraltarians suffered a 2-1 loss to Jersey, but they did well to hold Slovakia to a goalless draw in their first official international match. Gibraltar participated in the 2016 World Cup qualifiers and they were drawn in Group D alongside Germany, Poland, Georgia, Republic of Ireland and Scotland.
They failed to impress on their debut in the World Cup qualifiers and it has to be noted that the minnows suffered a loss in each of their ten group games (goal difference 2:56). Gibraltar recorded their first ever win against Malta on April 6, 2014 and that is considered the team’s biggest success.
Danny Higginbotham, who played for the likes of Manchester United, Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke City and Sheffield United during his professional career, has three caps for Gibraltar national football team and he is considered the greatest player who whore Gibraltar shirt. The Gibraltarians play their home games at Estadio Algarve, speaking of qualifying matches.
