Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Pride Park will host the League One opener between Derby County and Oxford United, the two teams who meet for the first time since 1994. Back then Derby County defeated Oxford United 2-1, but a close encounter is on the cards this time out as the Yellows are seen as one of the main favourites to make it to the playoffs. A man to watch in the away team will be Matthew Taylor as the club chiefs managed to keep hold of the 32 year-old striker in the summer transfer window.
The Rams, on the other hand, suffered relegation to League One due to the 20-point-deducation, but they are surely capable of matching Oxford at home ground. Wayne Rooney is no longer in charge of the team, and, no doubt, new boss Liam Rosenior will give 100% to bring glory days back to Pride Park. Anyhow, the share of spoils is on the cards.
