Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Shrewsbury play host to Accrington at their Greenhous Meadow in what is expected to be a close League One game. The Shrews played out a goalless draw with Morecambe in their opener, but they failed to turn their dominance in goal attempts and ball possession into the winning goal. Anyhow, the hosts are high on spirits ahead of their first home game of the season. Experienced attacker Ryan Bowman should continue to lead the line for the home team.
The Accy Stanley, on the other hand, shared the spoils with Charlton in the opening match of the season. Accrington, though, are not regarded as good travellers, and given Shrewsbury’s display in the goalless draw with Morecambe, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on the home team. Nigeria international Korede Adedoyin should start this time out after scoring as a substitute against the Red Robins.
Highlighted Player (Aaron Pierre):
Born on February 17, 1993 in Southall, England Aaron Pierre is a professional footballer who plays for Shrewsbury Town in the League One as a defender. Pierre started his youth career at Fulham at the age of 15 and in 2011 he moved to Brentford youth school.
Speaking of his senior career, the 185-cm-tall defender played for the likes of Brentford, Cambridge United, Wycombe Wanderers and Northampton Town before signing a deal with Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2019. Aaron Pierre signed for the League One side for an undisclosed fee, penning a three-year deal. Despite being born in England, the Shrewsbury Town footballer represents Granada on the international stage.
He received his first call-up for the Grenada national team in September, 2015, but he has yet to find the net with the Spice Boys. The Grenada international’s main position is centre-back, whereas his preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
