Our prediction for this League 1 match:
There will be fireworks when Wycombe Wanderers and Peterborough United face each other at Adams Park in the League One round 14. The Chairboys did well to beat Oxford United thanks to Chris Forino-Joseph’s goal, with the team putting an end to their three-game losing run, but they do not want to stop now. Keep in mind, though, that Dominic Gape is unlikely to feature against the Posh after limping off with injury in the last league match. Fellow midfielder Nick Freeman is likely to step up.
The visitors, on the other hand, aim to build on a thrilling 4-1 win over Forest Green. Peterborough want to move closer to automatic promotion berth, and seeing that they will go for a win as well, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. Both Oliver Norburn and Harvey Cartwright should miss out with injuries for the away side.
Highlighted Player (Jason McCarthy):
Jason McCarthy is a product of the famous Southampton youth academy. McCarthy started his youth career in his hometown club back in 2002 and he made his senior debut with the Saints in the Premier League on December 26, 2014, coming as a substitute for Nathaniel Clyne in a 3-1 away victory at Crystal Palace.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan at Wycombe Wanderers and Walsall, the English defender signed a three-year deal with Barnsley in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed fee. Jason McCarthy was struggling to secure a first-team football at the Oakwell stadium outfit and, as a result, he returned to Wycombe Wanderers on August 9, 2018, penning a three-year contract with the League One side.
His preferred foot is right, his main position centre-back, but he is used as a right-back as well. Jason McCarthy was born in Southampton on November 7, 1995.
Highlighted Team (Peterborough):
Founded in 1934, Peterborough United are a professional club that competes in the League One. The Posh play their home games at London Road Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 15,314. Peterborough’s home colour is blue, whilst the colour of their away kit is blue. The Posh have the third kit as well where yellow and black are the dominant colours.
Peterborough United’s biggest success came in the 1964/1965 when the club booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Chelsea, though, proved to be a big catch for the Posh, beating them 5-1 in London. It has to be noted that Peterborough United made it to the Football League Cup semis in the 1965/1966 season, with the team losing to WBA in the two-legged tie.
The likes of Cambridge United and Northampton Town are considered the club’s main rivals. The Posh have built a rivalry with Huddersfield Town, with fans seeing MK Dons as rivals as well.
