Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Burton Albion and Cheltenham Town square off against each other at Pirelli Stadium in what is expected to be a close League One encounter. The Brewers are still looking for their best form, with the team sitting in the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s clash. Burton are desperate to put an end to their three-match winless run, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach against Cheltenham. Sam Winnall limped off with injury in a 1-1 draw with Morecambe, with Joe Powell stepping up.
The Robins, on the other hand, have been struggling at the back of late, with the team conceding seven goals in total in back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday (0-3) and Bristol Rovers (1-4). Since the visitors are low on confidence ahead of the round 15 clash, we predict that Burton are going to return to winning ways in the League One. Both Norton and Olayinka are pushing for a start, speaking of the away side.
Highlighted Player (Sam Winnall):
Sam Winnall began his professional career at the age of 19. The striker, who was born on 19 January, 1991, made his Wolverhampton debut in May 2009 and he has been playing for a number of English clubs ever since.
He was on loan at Burton Albion, Hereford United, Inverness CT and Shrewsbury Town and in the 2013/2014 campaign he signed a contract with Scunthorpe United. Sam Winnall scored 23 goals in 45 appearances for the club and, as a result, secured a lucrative move to Barnsley in 2014. He went on to score his first goal for Barnsley on 23 August 2014 in a 4-1 win over Gillingham.
Winnall helped Barnsley eliminate Walsall in the 2015/2016 League One semis as he scored a brace in the first leg. It has to be noted that he scored 23 goals in the English second tier in the 2015/2016 season. He provided 8 assists for his teammates during the season and he finished the campaign as the third highest goalscorer in the league, just behind Nicky Ajose and Will Grigg.
Highlighted Team (Cheltenham):
Founded in 1887 by a local teacher Albert Close White, Cheltenham Town are an English club that compete in League Two. The Robins wear white jerseys with red stripes and white shorts when playing at home, while sky blue is the dominant colour of their away kit.
Cheltenham Town clinched the FA Trophy in 1998, with the team defeating Southport 1-0 in the title game. The match was played at Wembley Stadium in front of 26,837 spectators, with John Eaton scoring the only goal of the match. The Robins have won Leamington Hospital Cup, Midland Floodlit Cup, Gloucestershire Senior Cup, Cheltenham League and Gloucestershire Senior Amateur North Challenge Cup as well.
The likes of Gloucester City and Hereford are seen as Cheltenham’s traditional rivals, while, in more recent years, Forest Green Rovers have been the club’s main rivals. A 12-0 win over Chippenham Rovers (November 2, 1935), with the team suffering their biggest defeat against Tydfil (1-10) on March 8, 1952.
