Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
Basel play host to Zalgiris at their St. Jakob-Park in a highly-anticipated Conference League game. Basel are leading the standings ahead of Thursday’s clash, and a win over Zalgiris will see them book their spot in the knockout stages. Midfielder Darian Males has overcome his injury, whilst defender Kasim Adams is back from suspension. The Lithuanian champions, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Pyunik Yerevan, and they managed to get one, with the triumph giving them a confidence boost.
Zalgiris, though, are not regarded as good travellers, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Basel’s party at St. Jakob-Park. Vladimir Cheburin can count on key players for Thursday’s showdown. It has to be noted that Basel defeated Zalgiris thanks to Andi Zeqiri’s goal when the two teams met LFF stadionas earlier in the process.
Highlighted Player (Michael Lang):
Standing tall at 1.85 m, Michael Lang is a Swiss international defender who has gone through all ranks of the Switzerland national team to earn his senior call-up in 2013. Michael Jang began his professional career playing for FC St. Gallen where he spent five years before he moved to Grasshopper. During his four-year spell with the club he racked up 127 league appearances and scored 12 goals.
In 2015 Lang joined FC Basel on a free transfer, for whom he scored his first goal against the old club Grasshoppers only a week after his arrival. Michael Lang made 22 Swiss Super League appearance during the title winning season 2015-16, making an important contribution to his club’s 19th championship title in history.
During that time the 25-year-old Swiss international also managed to bag five goals for his club, which is regarded as a considerable tally for a defender. Having gone into the new season with two goals to his name already, Lang is expected to play a significant part in his team’s UEFA Champions League challenge.
