Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Napoli will look to move one step closer to winning their first Scudetto since 1990 when they welcome Empoli to their Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday evening. The Neapolitans came from behind to beat Atalanta in Bergamo, with the team extending their winning run to nine games in the Serie A.
Luciano Spalletti’s troops are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of Empoli, and even though important winger Kvaratskhelia is likely to miss the match with a back injury, we are tempted to put our money on the league leaders. The Azzurri, on the other hand, defeated Sassuolo at home thanks to Tommaso Baldanzi’s goal, but given their anything but good away record, we predict that Napoli are going to pick up all three points from the midweek game. Experienced forward Mattia Destro has joined defender Koni De Winter in Empoli’s recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Salvatore Sirigu):
Born in Nuoro, Italy on January 12, 1987, Salvatore Sirigu began his career at the youth team of Venezia at the age of 15. After spending four years at the club, Sirigu moved to Palermo in 2005 and he continued playing for the Sicilian club at senior level. The 192-cm-tall shot-stopper made 69 appearances for the Rosanero in the league and it has to be noted that he played for the like of Cremonese and Ancona (on loan) in Italy as well.
On July 28, 2011 Salvatore Sirigu signed a four-year deal with big-spending French club Paris Saint-Germain and he did well to win four Ligue 1 titles with les Parisiens. In the summer of 2017 he returned to Italy, signing a two-year deal with Torino.
Speaking of his international career, Sirigu won silver medal with Italy at the 2012 European Championship as the Azzurri suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Spain in the title game at Olympic Stadium in Kiev. He made his international debut for Italy on August 10, 2010 in a 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast.
