Our prediction for this Championship match:
Bloomfield Road will host Tuesday’s Championship game between Blackpool and Middlesbrough, the two bottom-table sides. Blackpool suffered yet another dip in form, with the team losing to both WBA and Luton in the last two league fixtures, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as underdogs in the midweek game. Michael Appleton can’t count on the likes of Liam Bridcutt, Lewis Fiorini, Jordan Gabriel, Kevin Stewart, and Jake Beesley for Tuesday’s match, while Callum Connolly misses out through suspension.
The Boro, on the other hand, head into the game following a 1-1 draw with Bristol City. Middlesbrough did well to beat Hull City 3-1 in their last away game, and given Blackpool’s difficulties up front, we predict that Michael Carrick’s men are going to return to winning ways in the Championship. Duncan Watmore continue to miss out with injury for the away side.
Highlighted Player (Chris Maxwell):
Chris Maxwell is a Welsh goalkeeper who was born in St Asaph on July 30, 1990. Maxwell began his youth career at Penrhyn Bay (1998-2000) and in 2000 he moved to Wrexham. The 188-cm-tall shoot-stopper made his first-team debut for Wrexham at the age of 18 and he played 76 league games for the club from 2008 to 2012.
During the 2008/2009 season he spent six months on loan at Welsh club Connah’s Quay Nomads and in 2012 he joined Fleetwood Town. Chris Maxwell made 110 appearances in the league for the Trawlermen and on May 16, 2016 he signed a three-year deal with Championship side Preston North End. You should know that he managed to keep clean sheets in 38 appearances for the Lilywhites in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign.
Due to his dual citizenship, Maxwell is capable of representing both Wales and Scotland at senior level, but he played for the Dragons at youth level, being capped for the U21 team 16 times.
Highlighted Team (Middlesbrough):
Middlesbrough is a professional football club that have been balancing between the top two divisions of England’s league system in the modern history. Boro have been playing their home games at the Riverside Stadium since 1995 and their shirt colour is red. The capacity of the Riverside Stadium is 34,742. Middlesbrough impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and they did really well to secure promotion to the English top flight. Newcastle United and Sunderland are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but there is a rivalry with Leeds United as well.
Middlesbrough made it to the FA Cup final in 1997, but Chelsea proved to be a big catch for the Boro in the title game (0-2). However, the Riverside Stadium outfit did remarkably well to win the League Cup trophy in 2004, with the team beating Bolton Wanderers in the final. George Boateng, Stewart Downing, Juninho Paulista, Gareth Southgate, Jonathan Woodgate, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tuncay Sanli and Hamilton Ricard are the star footballers who left their mark at Middlesbrough.
