Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:
The Valley will host Wednesday’s EFL Cup game between Charlton Athletic and Brighton, the two teams who meet for the first time since April 2016. Back then Brighton defeated Charlton 3-1 in the Championship, and the Seagulls are seen as favourites to win the midweek clash as well. This game comes too early for Alexis Mac Allister, who played for Argentina in the World Cup final, but Leandro Trossard and Pervis Estupinan are back from international duty.
The Red Devils, on the other hand, aim to make amends for the League One loss to Bristol Rovers. The capital club are eager to claim a major scalp in the EFL Cup last 16, but given their shaky defence, we believe that punters from all around the world can find value in betting on the Premier League side. Goalkeeper Joe Wollacott and Miles Leaburn are sidelined with injuries for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Jake Forster-Caskey ):
Born in Southend-on-Sea, England on April 25, 1994 Jake Forster-Caskey is a midfielder who plays for Charlton Athletic in the League One. Forster-Caskey started his both youth and senior careers at Brighton & Hove Albion and it has to be noted that he scored five goals in 67 league appearances for the Seagulls first team.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan at the likes of Oxford United, Milton Keynes Dons and Rotherham United, the English footballer signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Charlton Athletic in the winter of 2017. Jake quickly established himself as a first-team regular at the capital club, scoring 5 goals in 43 appearances in the 2017/2018 League One campaign.
However, he was out of contention for most of the 2018/2019 season with a serious knee injury. His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and left midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Brighton):
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club were formed in 1901. The Seagulls welcome their opponents at Falmer Stadium and the capacity of Brighton’s home ground is 30,750. The stadium was built in 2008 and it was opened in 2011. The venue is known for commercial purposes as American Express Community Stadium.
Brighton & Hove Albion compete in the Premier League and they play in blue and white stripes. The colour of Brighton’s away kit is green. The club made it to the FA Cup final in 1983, but English giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Red Devils.
Brighton’s main rivals are Crystal Palace and the Seagulls have recorded 35 wins over the Eagles. Frank Stapleton, Martin Chivers, Joe Corrigan, Bobby Zamora, Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Smith, John Crumplin and Frank Worthington are notable footballers who played for Brighton in the past. The Albion is Preston’s yet another nickname.
