Our prediction for this FA Cup match:
A place in the FA Cup last 16 will be at stake when Manchester City and Arsenal take on each other at Etihad Stadium on Friday evening. The Citizens set up a meeting with Mikel Arteta’s troops by rolling over Chelsea 4-0, and they head into the match following back-to-back Premier League wins over Spurs and Wolverhampton. Pep Guardiola should have a full squad to choose from. All Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, and Nathan Ake are pushing for a start.
A man to watch in the home team will be Erling Haaland, who scored a hat-trick against Wolverhampton. Meanwhile, the Gunners are on the right track to win their first Premier League title since 2004. The capital club proved their worth in a 3-2 win over Manchester United, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry at Etihad Stadium. Since Man City want to save the season by going all the way in the FA Cup, home win should be considered. Gabriel Jesus remains on the sidelines with injury, but Mohamed Elneny is fit for the match.
Highlighted Player (Nathan Ake):
Ake is a professional footballer who plays for the Dutch National Team and AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. The versatile defender who was born on the 18th of February, 1995, started his youth career in 2003 with local club ADO Den Haag. He then moved to Feyenoord in 2007 before joining Chelsea's youth academy four years later.
Ake made his first professional appearance at the age of 17, playing for the Blues in a 0-1 away victory against Norwich on the 26th of December, 2012. Barring a few starts and substitute appearances, Ake spent his next few years at Chelsea mostly in the reserves before being sent out on a one month loan to Reading in 2015. Upon his return, he immediately joined Watford on a season-long loan where his displays earned him the Watford's young player of the season award. Another successful loan spell at Bournemouth succeeded his time at Watford before Chelsea recalled him in January 2017.
At the start of the 17/18 season, the 24-year-old rejoined his current club Bournemouth permanently on a five-year contract worth 20 million pounds. On the International stage, Ake has represented the Netherlands at every youth level and has even captained the under-17 and under-19 sides. He made his first senior appearance on the 31st of May, 2017, featuring in Hollands 2-1 friendly win over Morocco.
Highlighted Team (Arsenal):
Arsenal are regarded as one of the best English teams. The Gunners have won 12 FA Cup trophies, 13 league titles and two League Cups, but they have yet to lift the Champions League trophy. Arsene Wenger’s team were on the verge of beating Barcelona in the Champions League final back in 2006, but they eventually failed to win the prestigious title.
Arsenal used to play their homes at Highbury, but in 2006 they moved to the Emirates Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 60,260. The Gunners won their last Premier League trophy back in 2004, with the capital club going through the season without a single loss. The likes of Thierry Henry, Denis Bergkamp and Robert Pires were part of the team back then, but Arsenal have not won the league trophy ever since.
Arsenal was founded by Woolwich munitions workers as Dial Square back in 1886. It is well known that Tottenham Hotspur are Arsenal’s fiercest rivals and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals meet in the North London derby.
