Our prediction for this Serie A match:
All eyes will be on Stadio Diego Armando Maradona when Napoli and Roma square off against each other in the Serie A derby. The Partenopei faced no difficulties in a 2-0 win over Salernitana, with the team moving one step closer to winning their first Scudetto since 1990. Luciano Spalletti is on the right track to bring glory days back to Naples, but the experienced tactician must warn his men against complacency. Important winger Kvicha Kvaratshkelia is a major doubt, while defender Juan Jesus remains on the sidelines with a muscle injury.
The Giallorossi, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Fiorentina and Spezia, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against the league leaders. Napoli are a real force to be reckoned with at home, and given their display in a 5-1 crushing of Juventus, home win should be considered. Jose Mourinho can’t count on injured midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
Highlighted Player (Giovanni Simeone):
Giovanni Simeone is a product of River Plate football academy. Simeone played for los Millonarios at senior level from 2014 to 2016 and he moved to Genoa in the summer of 2016. The former River Plate man scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Pescara on September 25, 2016 and two months later he scored a brace in a 3-1 victory over Serie A giants Juventus.
The prolific attacker netted 12 goals in 35 matches for the Rossoblu in the 2016/2017 Serie A campaign and, as a result, Fiorentina chiefs decided to sign him at the end of the season. The son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego joined the Viola on a five-year contract. Giovanni was born in Madrid on July 5, 1995 and due to his dual citizenship, he is eligible to represent both Argentina and Spain at senior level.
It has to be noted that he scored 12 goals in 12 appearances for the Argentina U20 team and he helped La Albiceleste win the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma is a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football.
The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. The Prince of Rom made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
