Our prediction for this Scottish Premiership match:
Hibernian play host to Kilmarnock at their Easter Road on day 26 of the 2022/2023 Premiership campaign. The Hibs kicked off 2023 with a 3-0 loss to Hearts, but they have been producing fine displays in the Scottish top flight ever since. Harry McKirdy has joined the likes of Kevin Nisbet, Mykola Kukharevych, Kyle Magennis, and Rocky Bushiri in the recovery room.
The Killie, on the other hand, did well to eliminate Dundee United in the Scottish Cup last 16, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry at Easter Road. Since Hibernian have found their best form of late, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from the match. All Ben Chrisene, Jeriel Dorsett, and Innes Cameron should miss out with injuries for the visitors, who were beaten by the Hibs in their last meeting at the venue.
Highlighted Player (Christian Doidge):
Over the years Christian Doidge has established himself as one of the best attackers in Scotland Premiership. Born on August 25, 1992 in Newport, Doidge is a Wales international who plays for Hibernian in the Scottish top flight.
He is a product of the Southampton football academy, but he did not see any game action in the Premier League with the Saints. The towering striker played for Bristol Rovers during his youth career as well before joining Cwmbran Celtic at senior level. He played for the likes of Barry Town, Carmanthen Town, Dag & Red, Dartford (loan), Forest Green Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers (loan) as well before signing a deal with the Hibs.
Christian Doidge made his Scotland Premier League debut on August 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over St. Mirren. The Wales attacker scored his first league goal for the Hibs against the same opponent three months late. Doidge has yet to receive a call-up for the Wales national football team.
Highlighted Team (Hibernian):
Founded in August 1875, Hibernian are the Scottish Premier League team that play home matches at Easter Road. The capacity of the venue is 20,421, and it was opened in 1893. The Hibs wear light green shirts with white sleeves and white shorts in home matches, while light grey is the dominant colour of their away kit.
Hibernian clinched their first Scottish league trophy back in the 1902/03 season, and they were the dominant force in Scottish football in the early 50s, securing three titles more from 1948 to 1952. The Easter Road outfit recorded their biggest win on September 3, 1881, with the team rolling over Black Watch Highlanders 22-1.
In February 1961, the Hibs suffered the biggest defeat in the club's history as they were beaten by Airdrie 11-1. Hibernian and Hearts face each other in the Edinburgh derby. The rivalry between the two clubs is considered one of the oldest rivalries in world football.
