Our prediction for this League 1 match:
St James Park will host Saturday’s football game between Exeter and Accrington. The Grecians aim to make amends for a 3-1 loss to Cheltenham, but they have little to play for in the season finale. Since Exeter are stuck in the middle of the table, home win should not be considered. The good news for the hosts is that defender Alex Hartridge is back from suspension.
The Accy Stanley, on the other hand, suffered yet another dip in form, with the team losing three of their last four league matches. John Coleman’s troops, though, have a chance to escape the relegation zone, and seeing that they want this win more than Exeter, away triumph should be considered. First-choice goalkeeper Lukas Jensen is back from suspension, while Mohammed Sangare is banned for the match following his sending-off in a 2-0 loss to Plymouth. You should know that under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of the previous four meetings between the two teams.
Highlighted Player (Nicky Ajose):
Nicky Ajose is an English footballer who started his youth career at Manchester United. Despite signing a professional deal with the Red Devils, Ajose did not see any game action for the English giants at the senior level. After spending the 2010/2011 season on loan at Bury, the 168-cm tall forward signed a contract with Peterborough United in the summer of 2011.
Nicky Ajose played for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Chesterfield, Crawley Town, Bury, and Swindon Town on loan before joining Leeds United on a three-year deal in August 2014. However, the English striker made no more than three league appearances for the Whites before signing a loan deal with Crewe Alexandra. In September 2015, he returned to Swindon Town, signing a three-year contract with the Robins.
Nicky Ajose played for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Bury (loan), and Mansfield (loan) before moving to his current club Exeter City. The Grecians attacker was born in Bury, England, on October 7, 1991, and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
