Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Sunday’s football game between Forest Green and Sheffield Wednesday will bring down the curtain on the League One round 38. The Green Army continue to struggle in the English third tier, and, as things stand now, they will find it hard to avoid relegation to League Two. Given their shaky defence, we do not believe that home win should be considered. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team ahead of the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls, on the other hand, are leading the chase for automatic promotion, and they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways following a 1-1 draw with Bolton. Both Reece James and Josh Windass should be fit for the match despite suffering minor injuries at the weekend. You should know that Sheffield Wednesday rolled over Forest Green 5-0 at Hillsborough earlier in the process.
Highlighted Player (Dominic Bernard):
After spending his youth career at Tredworth Tigers and Birmingham City, Dom Bernard signed a professional deal with the Blues. However, he did not see any game action with Birmingham City at the senior level as he was instantly sent on loan at Aldershot Town.
After making 35 appearances for the Shots in the league, Dom Bernard joined Forest Green in the summer of 2019. He made his debut with the Green Army against Oldham Athletic on the opening day of the 2019/2020 season. Bernard, who quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Forest Green, has one cap with the Republic of Ireland U18 team while making two appearances with the U17 team.
He was born in Gloucester, England on March 29, 1997, and he wears the number 3 shirt at Forest Green. His main position is right back, but he is capable of producing fine performances as a centre-back as well.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield Wednesday):
Sheffield Wednesday are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Sheffield (South Yorkshire). The Owls compete in the English second tier (Championship) and they play their home matches at Hillsborough.
The venue was the scene of the Hillsborough disaster which occurred in 1989 when 96 Liverpool supporters were crushed to death in the FA Cup semi-final. It has to be noted that the World Cup (1966) and the Euro (1996) matches were played at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday have won four First Division trophies (1902/2903, 1903/1904, 1928/1929, 1929/2930) and they finished the 1960/1961 campaign in second place in the standings. The Owls have clinched three FA Cup trophies (1896, 1907, 1935), with the team winning the League Cup in 1991.
Sheffield Wednesday defeated English giants Manchester United (1-0) in the title game. Sheffield United are regarded as the Owls’ main rivals and the two teams face each other in the Steel City derby.
