Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Arsenal will be aiming to move one step closer to winning the Premier League trophy when they welcome Leeds United to their Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Gunners recorded a routine 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Matchday 28, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Even though several Arsenal first-team regulars were on international duty at the weekend, home win should be considered as Mikel Arteta’s troops have been impressive on home soil this term.
Both Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny are sidelined with injuries, while Eddie Nketiah and William Saliba should recover in time to face the Whites. Meanwhile, the visitors produced a thrilling display in a 4-2 win at Wolves, but they will have a mountain to climb against the league leaders. Since Leeds United suffered a loss in each of their last five meetings with Arsenal in all competitions, we are tempted to put our money on Bukayo Saka and Co. All Stuart Dallas, Tyler Adams, and Adam Forshaw miss out with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Granit Xhaka):
Granit Xhaka is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most talented central midfielders at the moment and he is on the radar of quite a few high-profile sides. Just two seasons at FC Basel proved enough to attract interest from Borussia M’gladbach, who secured his signature in the summer of 2012.
The Switzerland international had a slow start to his career in Germany, causing many pundits to start doubting his credentials, but he eventually turn things around to show he is more than capable of playing at the highest level. Acting as a deep-lying playmaker, Xhaka impressed fans and pundits alike with his performances in Bundesliga and European competitions, and he even managed to score a couple of important goals in the process.
Despite his fragile age, the highly regarded footballer has been a key member of the Switzerland national team for quite some time now, scoring 6 goals in his first 40 caps to establish himself as a real leader of the Rossocrociati. The 2014 World Cup, where he scored one goal in four starts, should prove just the first of many major tournaments to come.
Highlighted Team (Leeds United):
Leeds United is one of the clubs that won the FA Cup. The Whites outplayed Arsenal in the final of the prestigious competition back in 1972, but they clinched the League Cup trophy as well. Leeds United faced the Gunners in the 1967/1968 League Cup final and it has to be noted that Terry Cooper scored the winner for the Whites.
Leeds play their home games at Elland Road and the capacity of the stadium is 37,914. The club was founded in 1919 and they have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies ever since (1968/1969, 1973/1974, 1991/1992). Leeds United made it to the Champions League final in 1975, but they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the title clash.
The Whites were impressive under David O’Leary. The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer, Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Ian Harte were part of the Elland Road outfit back then and they did well to reach the semis of the Champions League in 2001.
