Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Tenerife and Villarreal B square off against each other at Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez in a highly-anticipated La Liga 2 game. Los Insulares continue with their old habit of producing much better showings at home than on the travels, but they face a difficult task in Sunday’s encounter. Tenerife crushed promotion-chasing Las Palmas 4-1 in their last home fixture, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Villarreal B. Defender Nacho misses the game through suspension, while forward Mohamed Dauda is a major doubt.
The Yellow Submarine B, on the other hand, have been in a fine form of late, with the team beating both Alaves and Cartagena, while sharing the spoils with Ibiza and Huesca. Villarreal B, though, are not considered good travellers, which is yet another reason why we are going to bet on draw. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team ahead of the trip to the Canary Islands.
Highlighted Team (Tenerife):
Tenerife is a Spanish club based in the Canary Islands. Tenerife were founded on November 21, 1912, with the team playing home games at Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez. The stadium was opened on July 25, 1925 and it can hold up to 22,824 spectators.
Los Insulares established them as the elite division club in the 1990s, but in 1999 the team suffer relegation to La Liga 2. Tenerife played in la liga two seasons more (2001/02, 2009/10), but they have been competing in lower leagues ever since. Los Insulares wear white and blue shirts when playing at home, whereas light green is the dominant colour of their away kit.
Tenerife participated in the UEFA Cup in the 1993/94 season, with the team eliminating the likes of Auxerre and Olympiakos before losing to Juventus in the last 16. Three years later the Spanish club did remarkably well to make it to the UEFA Cup semis. Las Palmas are considered Tenerife’s main rivals.
