Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
After failing to break the deadlock in the first leg which ended as a goalless draw, PAOK will look to advance to the third qualifying round when they face Beitar in Jerusalem on Thursday. The Eagles even had a penalty saved in the first leg, but the bookies still see them as hot favourites to win this double-header. There are no fresh injury concerns in the Greek outfit, but summer signing Mbwana Samatta could start this time out.
The Israelis, on the other hand, are likely to adopt yet another defence-minded approach, but we do not believe that they are capable of preventing high-profile attackers from scoring for the second time in a row. PAOK's great teamwork sets them apart from Beitar, and we confidently anticipate the visitors showing their true potential on the field in the second leg. Yossi Abubakis is unlikely to make changes to the team that managed to hold the Greeks to a draw in Thessaloniki.
Highlighted Player (Mbwana Samatta):
Born in Dar Es Salaam on December 23, 1992, Mbwana Samatta is a Tanzania striker who plays for Genk in the Belgian Jupiler League. Samatta began his youth career at African Lyon and he played his first game at senior level for Simba SC, the club from his homeland.
In 2011 he moved to TP Mazembe and after scoring 60 goals in 103 league games for the club, the Tanzania international signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Genk. On August 23, 2018 Samatta scored a hat-trick against Brondby in the Europa League.
Speaking of his international debut, Samatta made his Tanzania debut in March, 2011 in a 2-1 win over Central African Republic. It has to be noted that the Genk attacker was named African Player of the Year (based in Africa) in 2015. His main position is centre-forward, but is capable of playing as a winger as well. His contract with Genk should expire on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (PAOK):
PAOK are regarded as one of the most famous clubs in Greece. The club’s biggest rivals are Olympiakos, but they have a great rivalry with local rivals Aris as well. The Double-headed eagle play their home games at Toumba Stadion Thessaloniki and the capacity of the venue is 28 803.
PAOK are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but they often struggle when playing on the travels. The club won their first Greek Superleague title in 1976 and nine years later their clinched their second domestic trophy, finishing the season three points clear of Panathinaikos.
Speaking of the club’s European success, the Black and Whites made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1973/1974 season, but they were outplayed by Italian giants Milan in the two-legged tie. PAOK were founded on 20 April, 1926 and they play their home games in black and white shirts and black shorts. The club’s away colours are white.
