Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Sparkles will be flying when Reading and Bolton go head to head at Select Car Leasing Stadium in the League One round 8. The Royals have yet to find their best form, with the team already suffering four defeats in the process and it is no wonder the bookies see them as underdogs in Saturday’s showdown. There are no fresh injury concerns in the home team, but both Yiadom and Ehibhatiomhan are pushing for a start.
The Trotters, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-1 win over Derby County. The promotion-chasing visitors are more of a team than Reading and we predict that they will take advantage of the Royals’ shaky defence. In their last meeting at the venue Bolton defeated Reading thanks to Yanic Wildschut’s goal and we predict that history is going to repeat itself. Ian Evatt should field the best possible side this time out after resting several first-team regulars in the EFL Trophy win over Salford (3-0).
Highlighted Player (Andy Yiadom):
Andy Yiadom was born in Holloway, London, but he began his career in the youth team of Watford. After spending two years at the Watford football academy, the pacey full-back (winger) joined Hayes & Yeading United and he scored only one goal in 36 appearances in the league for the club.
At the end of the 2010/2011 campaign Yiadom moved to Braintree Town and after scoring seven goals in 27 appearances for the Iron he signed a contract with Barnet. The 180-cm-tall footballer played for Barnet from 2012 to 2016 and he scored 14 goals in 169 appearances for the Bees. Andy Yiadom then decided to take a step forward in his career as he moved to Championship side Barnsley.
The English footballer played 32 games in the league for the Tykes last season and he provided three assists for his teammates, while receiving four yellow cards. His main position is full-back (right-back), but he is capable of playing on the left flank as well.
Highlighted Team (Bolton):
Bolton Wanderers were formed as Christ Church Football Club back in 1874 and three years later they adopted their current name. The Trotters currently compete in the Championship and they play their home games at Macron Stadium, which was opened in 1997.
Speaking of the club’s trophies, Bolton Wanderers won the FA Cup on four occasions (1923, 1926, 1929 and 1958), but they have yet to win the Premier League title. The Trotters were producing splendid displays in the 2003/2004 Premier League campaign, with the team finishing the season in eighth position in the standings, which is regarded as the club’s best result in the English top flight.
Bolton did well to reach the UEFA Cup knockout stages in the 2007/2008 season; the English outfit eliminated Atletico Madrid in the two-legged tie, but Sporting Lisbon eventually proved to be a big catch for the Trotters.
Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha is one of the most notable footballers who played for Bolton and he scored 14 goals in 124 appearances in the league for the club. Bury are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
