Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Stevenage will be aiming to make amends for a 3-0 loss to Blackpool when they take on Port Vale in the League One round 14. The Boro do not seem to be at their sharpest, with the team losing three of their four league matches. Nathan Thompson limped off with injury in the last league match, with fellow defender Finley Burns likely to step up.
The Valiants, on the other hand, aim to put an end to their three-game losing run in the English third tier. Port Vale have been struggling in front of goal of late, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. Midfielder Conor Grant is a major doubt after suffering an injury in the last league match, with Alfie Devine pushing for a recall to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Jake Taylor):
Jake Taylor is a product of the Reading football academy who plays for Exeter City in the League Two. Taylor spent his youth career at Reading, and he continued wearing the blue and white shirt at senior level.
After scoring two goals in 31 appearances with the Royals in the league, the English footballer spent several seasons on loan at the likes of Aldershot Town, Exeter City, Cheltenham Town, Crawley Town, Leyton Orient, and Motherwell. In 2016 Jake Taylor returned to Exeter City, signing a permanent deal with the St James Park outfit.
Despite being born in Ascot, England, on December 1, 1991, Taylor represents Wales on the international stage. He has ten caps with the Wales U21 team, and he made his debut with the Dragons at the senior level in a 2-1 win over Cyprus on October 13, 2014. His primary position is central midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Port Vale):
Nicknamed the Valiants, Port Vale are a professional club that compete in the League Two. Port Vale welcome their rivals at Vale Park, and they wear white and black kit when playing in front of home fans. Yellow, on the other hand, is the dominant colour of their away kit.
The Valiants’ home ground, which was built in 1950, can hold up to 49,768 people. Championship side Stoke City are seen as one of the club’s fiercest rivals, but their rivalry is pretty healthy. The two teams first met on December 2, 1882, with the Potters emerging triumphant (1-0).
The Valiants maintain a rivalry with fellow League 2 club Crewe Alexandra as well. Speaking of the club’s titles, it has to be noted that Port Vale have won Football League Trophy on two occasions (1993, 2001). A 9-1 win over Chesterfield from September 24, 1932 is the club’s biggest triumph.
