Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Goodison Park will be packed when Everton take on Newcastle United in the Premier League round 15 on Thursday evening. The Toffees quickly bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Manchester United, with the team beating Nottingham Forest thanks to Dwight McNeil’s goal at the weekend. Sean Dyche’s troops aim to give fans yet another reason to celebrate, but they will have a mountain to climb in the midweek clash. Barring any fresh injury worries, Sean Dyche is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Reds at the City Ground.
The Magpies, on the other hand, proved their worth in back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Manchester United and seeing that Everton suit them, away win should be considered. It has to be noted that Newcastle emerged triumphant in five of the previous six meetings with Everton in the English top flight. The likes of Wilson, Botman, Barnes, Targett, Murphy, Longstaff, Willock, and Pope are injured for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Abdoulaye Doucouré):
French international midfielder Abdoulaye Doucour is a bundle of raw energy and a player who was voted Watford’s Player of the Season during the 2017/18 campaign. A deep-lying midfielder who takes part in play build-up from behind is a defensive asset who took time to blossom and announce himself at the international stage. He first burst to prominence at Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2012 after a year with the club’s B side and went on to play 75 league matches and score 12 goals.
Watford bought Doucoure in 2016 but sent him on loan to Granada, where he took part in 15 league matches. Determined to prove his worth in the Premier League, the Frenchman of Mali descent wasted no time in grabbing a starting spot under both Marco Silva and Javi Garcia, respectively, upon his return from Spain.
The total of 38 matches played along with 8 goals scored made Doucoure one of the most sought-after assets in the summer of 2018 but the player remained at Vicarage Road despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Highlighted Team (Newcastle):
Newcastle United failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and, as a result, they dropped to the English second tier. The Magpies will host their rivals at their St. James’ Park in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign and it has to be noted that the capacity of the stadium is 52,354.
Newcastle United have won four domestic trophies (1904/1905, 1906/1907, 1908/1909, 1926/1927), while lifting six FA Cup titles (1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955) and a number of star players were part of the St. James’ Park outfit in the past.
David Ginola, Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Nolberto Solano, Gary Speed, Obafemi Martins and Kevin Nolan are notable footballers who are still remembered at the club. Newcastle’s fiercest rivals are Sunderland and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals face each other in the Tyne-Wear derby. The color of Newcastle’s home kit is black and white.
