Our prediction for this Championship match:
Cardiff City will look to build on a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday when they take on Plymouth on Matchday 24. The weekend triumph gave them a confidence boost, but the South Wales outfit need to keep on making progress if they are to book their spot in the playoffs. Both Aaron Ramsey and Callum ODowda remain in the recovery room, but there are no fresh injury worries in the home team ahead of the visit of Plymouth.
The Pilgrims, on the other hand, played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Birmingham City at the weekend, but given their poor away record in the 2023/2024 Championship campaign, we are tempted to place our bets on the South Wales outfit. The good news for the visiting side is that defender Dan Scarr returns from suspension. In their last meeting at the venue, back in 2008, Cardiff City defeated Plymouth 1-0.
Highlighted Player (Aaron Ramsey):
Aaron Ramsey is a Welsh football player born on the 26th of December in Caerphilly. Ramsey started his football career playing for Cardiff City. After 2 seasons playing for Cardiff City Ramsey got transferred to Arsenal for a unknown transfer fee. After playing for a loan for Nottingham Forrest and Cardiff City Ramsey returned to Arsenal in 2011.
Aaron Ramsey made his debut for the Welsh national team in 2008 and is one of the youngest players in the history of Welsh football. Ramsey is currently one of the most talentful midfielders of his generation. Because of his dribbling skills, vision and great passes and being two-footed Ramsey is known for being a player that dominates the midfield.
Despite several injuries in his still young career Ramsey managed to win the FA cup and the Community Shield twice with Arsenal. Ramsey is called Rambo by his fans. Ramsey and Gareth Bale are the biggest strength of the Welsh national team which will play in the EURO 2016 for the first time in history.
Highlighted Team (Plymouth):
Nicknamed the Pilgrims, Plymouth are a professional football club that host their rivals at Home Park. The stadium, which can hold up to 18,600 people, was built in 1892 and opened the following year. Plymouth footballers wear dark green jerseys and white shorts when playing in front of home fans, while light green and white are the dominant colours of their away kit.
The Pilgrims made it to the FA Cup semi-finals in the 1983-84 season, with the team advancing to the Football League Cup semis on two occasions (1964-65, 1973-74). The Pilgrims recorded their biggest win against Millwall on January 16, 1932, with the team beating the Lions 8-1, and they repeated the success in 1994 as they rolled over Hartlepool United in the Second Division.
The club suffered their heaviest defeat against Stoke City (0-9) on December 17, 1960. Fellow Devon teams Exeter City and Torquay United are seen as the club’s fiercest rivals.
